This document is a rough plan of the clinic I hope to establish in the near future(2016)
I am not a doctor however I have had probably more experience in receiving
hyperbaric treatments (approx 180) than most doctors or patients.
In fact many who are in the hyperbaric field, both doctors and technical people
have never had even one hyperbaric treatment.
I can attest to the fact that hyperbaric medicine is a worthwhile treatment regime
and worthy of more widespread use in this country.
Presently, hyperbarics are used much more frequently in several other countries around the world.

There are several reasons for this lack of interest in hyperbaric medicine.
One, it is a very old treatment having first been done in 1660 but not perused on a large a scale until about 1960
Our military both Navy and Air force have developed nearly all the work done in the field,
however, hyperbaric treatment has in nearly all cases been restricted to active members of the military. Even the VA has been unwilling to employ hyperbarics.

I hope to in some way to affect change in both the medical community by introducing more doctors to hyperbarics by establishing a fellowship program and a non profit clinic to train said doctors and treat both “on label and off label” patients.
I realize that large hospitals have hyperbaric facilities however, the use of the facilities
is dictated by both regulation and cost factors coupled with a general lack of qualified hyperbaric doctors all combine to limit the hyperbaric facilities use.

We are lucky in San Antonio having a number of USAF retired hyperbaric doctors
still in practice here. I hope to tap that pool of knowledge by inviting said doctors
to pass the knowledge they gained in the field and paid for by the taxpayers to
teach a hyperbarics fellowship program at our clinic. We will use the same program
(attached) already developed at the USAF Davis hyperbaric clinic at Brooks AFB.

Every journey starts with the first step and it is my hope that after reading this document
you will be ready to take that step with me.
